It is a creator friendly platform for creators to publish and monetize their video stories. We are a small team of independent developers and Vignetta offers better terms to creators than YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or any alternative video sharing platform.
A "vignette" is our word for your short videos. If desired, your vignettes can be arranged to be played in sequence for a "series" that we call a "vignetta." Now, not all vignettas have multiple vignettes (i.e, episodes) and we have many vignettas that just contain a single vignette. This means the creator has uploaded a single short video that is meant to be viewed stand alone and not in sequence with other videos. However, our ability to provide the option of an episodic platform can lead to fun, ongoing storylines where vignette episodes are added over time.
No. We fully expect our creators to post their content on other video sharing platforms. We have streamlined the upload process on Vignetta so it should only take a few extra minutes to include us when you are uploading videos to other platforms like YouTube. To be clear, we do not own your content.
As noted in the Terms of Service, creators have complete ownership of their IP and can remove their content from Vignetta at any time. We have intentionally created policies, like our ToS, that in all cases are more creator friendly than YouTube, Instagram, TikTok. That is, if you are "ok" operating with their policies, then Vignetta's really should not be an issue.
Yes! We are still finalizing the details of the Vignetta Rewards Program which will offer 70% of net revenue to creators. This compares very favorably to YouTube at 45-55% and TikTok at 50%.
First, unlike YouTube and TikTok, there is no minimum follower or subscriber threshold to qualify for the Vignetta Rewards Program. Also unlike those platforms, we do not use a revenue pool allocation and Vignetta payments to creators will be based on actual guest activity, like a viewing, associated with each video. But like those other platforms, we do have certain age and geographic requirements to qualify.
We need until the end of March 2026 to confirm systems stability, after which the program officially starts. However, note that we are still tracking any revenue generated by your videos from day one, so any money your videos earn before the program starts will retroactively be applied to your account.
Vignetta is backed by a small team who believe indie creators will drive the future of video storytelling. The CEO is Ed Zobrist, the former head of publishing for Epic Games and his background includes launching Fortnite in 2017. Vignetta contributors have worked at TikTok, The Walt Disney Company, YouTube, Netflix and Electronic Arts. We are extremely familiar with building audiences.
